Ups and Downs

Boy, we’ve had a lot more downs  than ups lately! Sherry is back in ICU because of high CO2 levels last weekend, but now seems to have turned the corner yesterday and today. She was on the ventilator until yesterday when they put in trach. so the vent tube could be removed. She is a lot more comfortable without the tube and being sedated all day Saturday and most of Sunday. She is now awake, alert and wanting to be moved to a regular room. They have also removed a chest drainage tube today and has only two tubes left. The doctor was by this morning and the only thing he said was to get her walking, which she has done 3 times so far today. Our daughter has come to visit us this week, so I’m taking advantage of her and leaving the hospital early and getting a little rest. Hopefully she has “turned the corner” and is on the way to recovery so she can finally come home. Thank you for your patience for not updating the blog more but soon she will do a better job than me.

  16. Oh, Charley, so sorry about the down times...this has been a long, long journey for you and Sherry. You are so fortunate to have one another. The down times will make the up times, in the future, so much sweeter. You'll be back to your adventures soon. Glad your daughter is there to give you some rest. You and Sherry continue to be in my thoughts, and I hope to be reading about your travels, soon.
