The Smoky Mountains

We have had a good time touring the Gatlinburg, Sevierville and Pigeon Forge areas the last couple of days. These are very much tourist attractions with loads of shops, hotels/motels, restaurants and amusement parks/activities.

We also drove the Cades Cove Loop today which was a nice, scenic 11 mile drive after we reached the loop. This area has a lot of history associated with it and many of the sites are historical homes, churches and other buildings from as long ago as the early 1800’s.

We have included several pictures and hope you enjoy them.

Nice, cool mountain stream – some were swimming in it!!

This is the closest we got to seeing Dolly or Dollywood

We did the Cades Cove loop when we were in NC last summer. What a great ride! Your pictures provided great memories.

Hope your enjoying some cooler weather. High in Spearfish today...78!

  3. Kay and I took that ride up the mountain. Just skimming the tops of trees. Not scarey at all.
There was a very tall "barrel" uptown that had a elevator. Now THAT was scarey because we never knew if was too rusty to stand. I could see the headlines now!!! But it stood and we made it up and down.

  5. We saw you and Charley on our way back to W TN from Gatlinburg just this morning. I noted your internet address! We were in Gatlinburg all week. We were there in Cades Cove yesterday evening and got pics of a mama bear with two cubs lazing up in a tree just off the drive. Of course we had our traveling buddy, Sassy, a six year old dachshund. She enjoyed it there as much as we did!! Love your pics, Sherry!!
