Our First Week of June

We are still here in Chapel Hill, NC struggling to get back to the fitness center to work out. I cannot even get one lap of walking in without stopping for a long rest due to my extreme shortness of breath!! And walking is the most important exercise for me to do well…..

Talked to our coordinator about this and that I suspect that the antibiotics did not completely clear up the pneumonia and fluid in my right lung. So I have an appointment tomorrow morning to get all checked out and see what is wrong. After we get this figured out the goal continues to be to gain the last 3 pounds that I need to gain and get back to exercising 3-5 days per week.

When I reach the weight goal of 105 our hope is that I will be placed on the list for a double transplant. We will continue to keep our blog updated weekly, but if we should get listed mid-week, you can bet that we will let you all know right away!!

Our two oldest grandchildren successfully finished up another school year this week. Both of our children and their families are going to the beach together next Saturday for a full week. We know that they will have a grand time. Wish we could be there with them but, what we are doing is more important right now. We will have lots of time to join them later for this!!

Stay tuned for additional updates, hopefully coming soon!!

  1. Jim is learning what it's like to be a little short of breath and neither of us can imagine how hard it must be for you. Thanks for the update and lots of prayers and hugs being sent your way.

  3. Eat cake! Drink shakes! Eat tons of ice cream! Just kidding, a feeble attempt at a little humor...I know you are doing everything you can to gain weight. Wish I could give some of my "pudge" to you! It takes a lot of courage to fight for your health, that's for sure. Eldy and I are in admiration of your guts and determination! Prayers to you and Charlie....

  4. Oh my...I didn't expect the news about the antibiotics. I was hoping I would read that you were jogging around the track. OKay...get back to the doctor and turn it over to God.

Three more pounds is wonderful news though. Your clothes still fitting you?

Looking forward to a great positive blog next week!

    1. Thank you!! No, most of my pants no longer fit well. Only my yoga pants still work but that is okay. Don't worry, I am planning on going shopping as soon as I know what size I am going to be!! :)

  7. Okay, I'm sure 3 lbs sounds like 300 to you, but it isn't. Maybe another round of antibiotics will get you to your goal and you'll be on your way to good health. You and Charley are in my thoughts.

    1. Thank you! I weighed 103.1 pounds today at the doctor's office. He has put me on a prednisone step down for the next couple of weeks to try to strengthen my lungs. And he is recommending that I be listed to the transplant committee tomorrow. So we hope that good news is on the way!!
