We spent the Labor Day weekend doing the “football and Nascar” marathon. This is mostly Charley’s thing but I enjoy college football too. We are Clemson fans and enjoyed watching their season opener Saturday afternoon (a win by the way).
We only have one definite plan for an outing this week and that is to spend one day at the Grand Teton National Park. It will be interesting to see if anything has changed since we were last here a few years ago. We plan to do this tomorrow if the weather reports are accurate. It is supposed to be a little warmer and sunny/clear. Otherwise we plan to get rested up and cleaned up for our daughter, son-in-law and grandson who will be flying in to join us on Saturday for a week. Then we will be going lots of places!
Our son had some excitement at his home last week. He has a VERY large, VERY old oak tree in his front yard. One of the limbs split off and fell!! Fortunately no children or vehicles were in the path at the time (another miracle since our grandchildren love to play under this tree and on their tree swing). Jason counted the rings in the limb that fell and this indicates that the limb is 73 years old! So this tells me that this tree started its life LONG before I started mine….. I have attached 2-3 pictures just to give you a visual. Our grandson is almost 11 years old and he is the one in the picture. Remember, this is just a limb, not the tree!!
This is a picture of the tree prior to the limb falling
a mighty old tree!!..enjoy the Grand Tetons tomorrow!!
